Minecraft / Update 1.8
« on: September 14, 2011, 06:59:14 pm »
Just flew around for a bit on a creative map. Either I was generating an unusual map of the map generator is now set to 'EPIC SCENERY' :P Probably just me though.

I found a random NPC village style thing which was pretty cool. It included a forge with a small lava pool! :o and fully formed and irrigated farms. So that was cool.

Think I spawned in a swamp biome. Don't know if they've changed the odds of mushrooms spawning under trees but they were under almost every tree near where I spawned o.0

Anyway...what are everyones favourite changes? One of mine is probably stone brick...finally something to do with all that damn cobblestone :P

Minecraft / Industrial craft
« on: September 10, 2011, 06:50:58 pm »
Started building machines today and I thought I'd share my thoughts so far.

1. Macerators are awesome. Stop whatever project you're working on atm and build one :)

2. Iron furnaces (and the more advanced ones when you can get them) are awesome. Stop whatever project you're working on atm and build one :)

3. You need a LOT of rubber (and hence a lot of wood). Seriously, a tonne. Get an extractor as one of your first things.

4. Start making and using charcoal as your primary fuel source. Charcoal can't be used to make coal dust which is used in the making of a lot of things - therefore coal is more valuable than charcoal and you shouldn't be burning it or making it into torches if you don't have to.

Also be wary - some of the recipes on the IC2 wiki have either changed or are different in the version we're using. The ones on the minecraft wiki tend to work but it isn't as easily searchable.

Thats all for now. Anyone elses thoughts and comments?

PS Seeing as I now have some of the machines up and running I can give you a tonne of rubber to get you started if you like :)

Edit - forgot two things. firstly this page is prolly the most useful one from the wiki. Also do not make iron tools, make bronze and save your iron for making machines :P

Minecraft / Dungeons and the deep
« on: September 09, 2011, 12:46:20 pm »
So I've now uncovered a couple of dungeons (yay!)

The first was actually right next to the surface, the other was down deep. I'm now the proud owner of 2 saddles and 16 cookies :D

But far more amusingly, I was exploring and found something in a cave:

The important point? Note the y value. That's how many levels above bedrock I am :D

You said there'd be lava Trerro :P

Edit - also in other news my farm is now up and running so if anyone wants any bread then theres a load of wheat in the storage box nearby. Coming soon - mushroom farm!

Edit 2  - Click for a youtube guide to automatic mushroom farming ...I can't decide if I'm horrified or inspired :P

Edit 3 - argh my island was invaded :P

Plus - I found diamond, yay! No lava yet though :-(

Minecraft / Error
« on: September 07, 2011, 12:10:55 pm »
Hmm...I've clearly done something wrong  when installing the mods.

If I leave the industrial craft config file with all the stuff with hashes in front of it I can log into Minecraft fine and join the server fine, but when I try and mine uranium nothing drops and the block disappears.

However if I remove the hash from before the line 'addMineableOres=true' minecraft throws a wobbly and won't even let me start the game up.

Ideas or should I just delete everything and try again?

Edit - I can make plant clumps however so I assume the rest of the mod is working...hmm

Edit 2 - You need an iron pickaxe to mine uranium :P I'm an idiot :D

Minecraft / Snow

I totally didn't know they'd added snow to minecraft

I was amused at first encountering it however :P

Kingdom of Loathing / Clip Art
« on: September 01, 2011, 11:24:00 pm »
Yet another IotM which looks complicated enough that I'd never remember to use to it good effect. Think I'll give it a miss as I already have suger shummoning (which I kinda regret in retrospect but ho hum)

Looks pretty good for HC types what with unbearable light, food, drinks and every type of buff you might want all in one neat package.

If I didn't already have a tome I'd be all over it to be fair. Thoughts and opinions?

Edit - also, the blammer is one of my new favourite items :P

Kingdom of Loathing / Meat farm
« on: August 28, 2011, 09:04:56 pm »
I (finally) got my meat farming multi up and running :)

The plan for the multi was mostly to run it during holiday events and when I feel like it to earn meat for running hobopolis and the slime hole. To celebrate I just donated 3 million meat to the clan store :)

Also my plan was to never ascend again with this mutli and they're set as an accordion thief so I'll probably try to get copies of all the accordion thief buffs so if you ever want one send over a pm (or just use a buff bot and I'll carry on farming meat :P)

Kingdom of Loathing / Travelling Trader
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:54:31 am »
How is it that I always manage to not notice when the travelling trader comes into town :P

Is there anything else that you guys always miss or always forget?

Off Topic / Vocab
« on: July 28, 2011, 07:25:07 pm »

Go go go!

I have the vocab of a 31 year old apparently...which is backed up by people describing my language as 'mature' <_<

Kingdom of Loathing / Ascending

Looks good to me :) Not having to re-do all my permed skills if I want them HC permed seems pretty awesome

Kingdom of Loathing / Corman

I'll be lucky if I even manage to get an aviator hat :(

Kingdom of Loathing / VIP lounge
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:17:55 pm »
This months IotM got me thinking. Should we think about saving as a guild for items for a VIP lounge? Or should we just carry on as we are?

Obviously 3 Mr As + 1 Mr A each is a very heavy investment for some relatively minor benefits

On the other hand if we ever do decide to invest it'll be more expensive...although the VIP room is nearing fullness now so I assume they'll start releasing alternatives.

(incidently I still have two Crimboughs I think :P)

Kingdom of Loathing / Ascending
« on: April 05, 2011, 07:53:36 pm »
As you may or may not be aware I did finally get around to ascending...already level 8 again :)

But now I need opinions...should I go for more level 30 trophies and dungeon diving to level my telescope and hobopolis fun (plus I never did get any slime gear)

should I actually just spend a while ascending so I actually have some skills under my belt?

(and before anyone suggests hardcore, I rebel against the idea of getting skills and this leads to my temptation every time I think about doing hardcore to spend 6 hardcore runs getting the 6 level 1 skills permed for that trophy, which just sounds painful so don't put the idea in my head :P)

What do you guys reckon?
