We do have a Martian colony... on Earth. They gave us martian blankets that turned out to be laced with large-pox. The human race is now living in small reservations while the Martians only recognize us by naming their sports teams after a whitewashed memory of our existence.

HAHA I wish that after being gone for a year, I could go one day without someone blowing up on me about my, up until now, unmentioned on this forum religion! HAHA

Suddenly, everyone in the world has an IQ of 400. All menial labor disappears - we have machines for that now. Resource efficiency increases to the point that even the poorest citizen lives like a king does now. 1% of the world's land can now feed all of its people - no one goes hungry. Thanks to fusion power and cleanup technology, not only is there no more pollution being made, but what's already up there is cleared. We fix the ozone layer while we're at it. Everyone thinks for themselves, and now with no wars over religion or resources, there's pretty much just plain no war. No one ages... and yet there's no overpopulation - as the population goes up we develop underground cities, arcologies, and finally, simply expand into space - and there we encounter various alien species, trade technologies, and advance even faster! It appears to be utopia.

Unfortunately, no one's moral alignment changed, only their intelligence. Your common gang leader is now a supervillian. Your manipulative, evil, political type has no real political power anymore... but he finds a way to get it back. Weapons... very, very powerful weapons. Devices of destruction are created on a scale the greatest of sci fi authors can't even imagine today. Inevitably, someone is immoral enough to actually use these weapons. 99% of the population of all species in our galaxy die out - and most of the rest are on planets where life is no longer sustainable. The few survivors band together, desperately hoping they can rebuild civilization... only time will tell if they succeed.

I wish friendly aliens would land here.

aliens land and attempt to make friendly communication with humans. Seeing that the United States of America is seemingly the most popular of the Earthly countries, they head straight for New York City. Unfortunately, by some misunderstanding, they think that Rush Limba is the most influential man in the most popular country and thus must be our leader. listening to his radio program they find humanity to be a hateful violent and arrogant species. Fearing we could create war, they quickly depart without making any contact (a simple fly over and out). American citizens where so shaken by the event that they vote in a war mongering republican who claims to have America's best interests at heart and an iron fist to defend us from a probable alien attack. Marshal law takes effect in the United states and many other countries follow suit. The planet eventually gives in to the "green scare" where Dick Cheny is named leader of the world in hopes he will defend us all..... (i think you see where this is going)

i wish people weren't so caught up in surviving and cared more about living eventful lives

The world becomes a much more interesting place, but people forget to make sure there's enough farms to feed everyone. Mass rioting and looting soon results.

I wish the US had more than 2 political parties.

They're not. Instead, they're apathetic zombies that follow whoever is currently in charge.

I wish all bodily damage could be repaired by nanobots.

Scientists develop an injection of nanobots, which can repair bodily damage, and even cure diseases before they have a chance to develop. Unfortunately, the nanobots decide that their human hosts do not always make logical decisions, so they take over the human consciousness. Every human is now either a slave within his own body, or a slave to their nanobot-infected brethren.

I wish the housing market would stabilize so I could buy a home.

It stabilizes, thanks to communism coming to America.  All houses are $1, in price and quality.

I wish Verizon would have nice phones that weren't tied to data plans.

they allow you to buy a smartphone without a data plan but dont block data usage. you get a HUGE phone bill because of the data used to syn the time on your phone (NOOOO!!!))
(btw... no one offers smart phones without dataplans anymore, you gotta get an unlocked phone for that... or buy it outright)

Animals speak English, but because of their extremely low cognition, humans still can't understand anything beyond their basic wants and affection (which we understand already anyway  ;) )

I wish we we could have another election next month

We start having presidential elections every month. No president ever accomplishes anything again, and no one even knows what platform they're voting for, as candidates have no time to establish a platform independent of what mass media decides it is.

I wish Texas would become its own country (and have no say in US politics as a result.)
