Suspicious stocking
« on: December 06, 2009, 12:34:28 am »
This months IotM.

I'm pretty tempted to get one. I like the chocobo because it means that its never going to be terrible and hence I don't actually have to swap out for other familiars all the time. Plus the candy it drops is pretty rad.

But then I think I would be pretty much giving up on ever getting the tour guide trophies...

Thoughts on how worthwhile it is?

1. This familiar does look pretty good, and the fact that you can superlevel it beyond what a normal cocoabo could easily do, makes it potentially very valuable... for a powerlevelled character, or a strictly softcore character. It has benefits at both ranges. For ascension purposes, not so much.

2. You have to ascend to get all the tour guide trophies. You've not done one since NS13, GPH! And even so, this guy may not be the best familiar for an ascension anyway.

3. If you don't yet have a Mr. Store Familiar, I say get one at some point. I love my Goodfella, and I know Gal has got one or two in his storehouse now...

Yes I know I haven't ascended since NS13 but I stopped playing the game for a good long while and then I wanted to check out all the hobopolis and ocean goodness before I deleveled to the point of not being able to take part again and then I decided seeing as I was doing that I may as well try to get to level 30 and grab some of the longer trophies :P But the intention is there! I may just not bother though...thats a lot of effort even for me :P

My only worry is that as a casual softcore ascender I doubt I'm ever going to feel the benefit of the superhighlevelness...though the candies will make up for that possbly :)

i agree that the candies are pretty sweet. if you use it for an entire ascension, i'm sure it will hit somewhere around 50-60. and +11 stat points will certainly help you lvl up faster. My only wish would be that the candies dropped more often :p
