Helpful Sites
« on: December 10, 2009, 04:15:59 pm »
I thought that it would be a good idea to list any sites that we find helpful and throw them all into one thread. That way they're easier to find.

First, i'll hit the most obvious one KoL Wiki You're on stop for everything KoL

Diet Cost Calculator, quick way to find the cheapest, most beneficial food/booze items for sale in the mall(thanks Gph)

any other sites ya'll use would be awesome :)

So... this is what happens when you go on a cream pie craze and hop on chat :p

There are a variety of buffbots around, which you can see a selection of on the wiki here

Those are the only ones I use on a regular basis. I also use KoL Mafia, which I highly recommend once you've done your first couple of play throughs :P. That also links to the forums which are also always a good starting point if you want to look something up :)

Familiar calculator tool
http://retrofrog.hardcoreoxygenation.com/kolfamiliars.html

This is a good tool to quickly figure out how to level a familiar in the fewest possible number of turns (or as close to it as possible accounting for the RNG) via the arena. Over the course of the ascensions I did - especially the hardcore oxy ones, this saved me DAYS of wasted turns. Besides being good if you ascend a lot, if you're going for the black hole terrarium, or even just want to have several familiars to cycle through, this will get you there much faster.

A KoL spoilers page
http://www.zerokelvin.org/kol.html

While not as thorough as the wiki, this is a great "everything in one place" resource, especially when you just need a refresher on one detail of a quest you've run a bunch of times before.

Subjuntive.net KoL guide
http://www.subjunctive.net/kol/FrontPage.html

Another handy guide site - again, not as thorough as the wiki, but good when you're trying to find stuff by category instead of the search & pray you're often stuck with on a wiki.

Just another link for people using KoLMafia. Its a programme which checks if you're running the latest update and if you're not...updates it :D Adds 15 seconds to the load time but means you're always up to date :)
