Odd user names have been appearing

We've been getting some weird usernames registering on our forums, including a few that look like they were spat out by an RNG.

I was expecting to start seeing spambot posts, but as far as I can tell, these accounts haven't done *anything* since registering.

I don't think they're data mining bots, because you don't need an account to read the forums, only to post of them, so you don't need an account at all for that.

Has anyone gotten any spammy PMs or anything?

Some of these bots are made to remain inactive for a while and than all spam at once I think.

Yes, I did receive a spam mail.

Maybe there should be a whitelist, where only certain accounts can get on.


With this system, a administrator can allow a account with a specific username to be created.

are these messages coming in are cc inbox or are emails? cause i got nothing on my cc in box,and i use a spam guard provided by my email. good to know because i probably would of sent in a few buck to help out the cc. Time was you would get a donor heart,good times.
