crimbo 2009
« on: December 02, 2009, 08:10:54 pm »
So does anyone have any thoughts on the mechanics of this years crimbo event? i'm quite flabergasted and have absolutely no clue how if the newspaper can't be trusted, how we're supposed to get the right combination here <_<

I really have no idea...I saw some speculation that the most popular choice was the one that gave most meat which those who choose the choice first getting more meat.

But that seems like a silly mechanic to me. Really theres just too little data to go on at the moment. Just guess and see what happens :P

Edit - is anyone else really sucking at this? <_< Total Earnings: 17,710 Meat

I'll just say right here and now that this clan is not the right makeup to be speculating on mechanics. We have nowhere near the resources of some of the clans in this game for that endeavor.

That being said, my totals for 5 days:

Tyred_Soul     49,823 Meat
El Juan            40,481 Meat

So... I'm not doing too badly for not spading ANYTHING.

It may very well just be random. If the newspaper is wrong, then it may still be useful as a way to tell you what NOT to pick, which at least narrows it down to 2 choices.

It could also be that it forms partial combinations - for instance, perhaps yesterday's was saying caroling at the mall is good, but booze slows them down?

I really have no idea though.

Looking at the talk page on the wiki, it sounds like certain predictive elements are true and others are not so true. However, what you ply your hobos with and your customers really is a determining factor.

The most irritating thing? Since it started I have read the newspaper every day, spent a few minutes pondering before I make what I feel to be the best choice. Total: 85,337 Meat

My multi started two days late and I've just left him set to the same three random ones I chose on the day he started. Total: 100,145 Meat

so how'd everyone do in the end?
My results:
It would appear that your hobos collected a total of 199,545 Meat(Aseelag)
It would appear that your hobos collected a total of 213,796 Meat(Galeesa)

both ended up getting 3,000 crimbux. it looks like the only way to get the 5,000 crimbux at the opening of crimbo town was to be one of the top earners :(

I think the limit to get 3000 instead of 2000 was 140k of which my main was 1500 short :(

Anyone else decided what they're doing to spend their bux on yet? As tempting as the outfit is I think I'm going to give it a miss. To be honest, depending how things go I may not even get the fam either...or at least not for myself. My current plan is probably just to sell whatever I get. I want the things the monies will buy me more than I want the crimbo items :P

i kind of like the 50 turns of +20% more items and meat gained from having all 4 of the campground items. i'd go after the crimbough, but nobody has access to the clan vip room... so i have a feeling that it would be a waste

The campground items are definitely worth it for any no ascendy character but for us ascendy types...meh.

The crimbough would prolly be a waste for us, but it may well be the item of choice for meat potential. If you hold onto one of those they could become very valuable indeed :P
