IC2 shouldn't require a reset. The rubber trees and IC ores won't appear in existing chunks, but that just means we have to explore further out for it, it'll be the whole "discovering a lost civilization" effect.

Seems like it'll be more than a tad inconvenient for everyones mines to be several days walk (or more) from their houses is my main concern :P Still, I suppose that's what teleporters are for :D

So have a central hub where everyone has a house and a few community projects are. Then people can have teleporters in their house to their mine/secret base and other public teleporters out to more distant community projects. That what you were thinking?

Just to clarify because I'm not entirely clear - so the current plan is now to reset the current world and then reset again when IC gets released?

If everyone else wants to reset I'm not going to complain but surely thats just going to involve people losing even more stuff which seems to be what has caused annoyance before?

And if the plan is to reset now but not when IC comes out then I'm confused :P can you add IC into the server without resetting it? But that would suck too because all the areas we'd already explored would lack copper and tin, yes? Or are we abandoning IC entirely?

Someone care to clarify for me? My stance at the moment remains, if you want to reset this world now *shrugs* go ahead but I don't really understand the logic behind wanting to reset it if we're planning another reset in the not too distant future?

Just a quick point about your last post there skeeter.

All I really need is enough to A: Set up a temporary base to explore from and B: actually make expeditions.

Temporary shelter is...maybe 20 soil and a few blocks of wood? Plus some cobblestone if you want to get fancy. Which equates to about 10 minutes work when you start a map.

The new food rules actually make it much easier to expedition as well. The other day I was out all night killing zombies, skeletons (whoo 20 arrows! I was so chuffed :P) and creepers, found an npc village and some surface lava - that was on our current map. You just need to play the old hit/run away game. So kill a cow or two and you're set for the day really.

Basically what I'm trying to get at is that there doesn't seem much point in demanding items to help you survive the first two days of a new server. It'll just be a lot of hassle for not much gain. :P

Anyways I have no idea what stuff I had/have on any of our servers so I'll just be starting from scratch :D

Edit - oh btw sonya, that was my underwater tunnel :D I was just trying to figure out how the glass panes worked seeing as I hadn't used them before. It was kinda weird that you could drop into the tunnel by sliding through them from the water. o.0

Do you have the power to change the spawn point?

To be honest I'm fine with sticking with the current world for now seeing as presumably the plan is to reset and start a new one once the IC mod is up and working again?

Nor am I that fussed with resetting though if thats what everyone else wants.

Minecraft / Server name

Any chance we can reduce the length of our server name.

It's annoying me that it runs over into number of people present on the server bit :P

Yay for OCD!

Power of Meep (Clan) / Re: Slime tube

It would cost me 2.5 million meat and a significant investment in time to reach the +553ML target needed to hit the nodule drop on my own...and by 'on my own' I'd need 5 gall bladder squeezes as well :P

Someone with 5 bits of slime hates it gear can get 2 for just the cost of opening the tube *is depressed* :P

I might just bite the bullet and buy some nodules. So far as I'm aware I won't actually have to leave the clan for that yes? The other clan just needs to whitelist me?

If I could request peoples help next time we open the slime tube to tickle as I've only got one piece of slime covered gear atm :D

Well I'm happy to put the time/meat in to equip my char with the slime gear. Its just that I can currently only get a base of around +150ML (+buffs and stuff which I didn't actually bother looking into yet).

Seeing as you need +550ML to get the first nodule thats way out of reach at the moment :-/

Any advice on how to get started? Or would the easiest way just to be hanging around in trade and asking if anyone is selling nodules? :P

My level 30 is still unascended due to real life stuff getting in the way so yeah I'm still up for some sliming.

There should be plenty of meat in the clan store for runs. :)

Minecraft / Update 1.8
« on: September 14, 2011, 06:59:14 pm »
Just flew around for a bit on a creative map. Either I was generating an unusual map of the map generator is now set to 'EPIC SCENERY' :P Probably just me though.

I found a random NPC village style thing which was pretty cool. It included a forge with a small lava pool! :o and fully formed and irrigated farms. So that was cool.

Think I spawned in a swamp biome. Don't know if they've changed the odds of mushrooms spawning under trees but they were under almost every tree near where I spawned o.0

Anyway...what are everyones favourite changes? One of mine is probably stone brick...finally something to do with all that damn cobblestone :P

Minecraft / Industrial craft
« on: September 10, 2011, 06:50:58 pm »
Started building machines today and I thought I'd share my thoughts so far.

1. Macerators are awesome. Stop whatever project you're working on atm and build one :)

2. Iron furnaces (and the more advanced ones when you can get them) are awesome. Stop whatever project you're working on atm and build one :)

3. You need a LOT of rubber (and hence a lot of wood). Seriously, a tonne. Get an extractor as one of your first things.

4. Start making and using charcoal as your primary fuel source. Charcoal can't be used to make coal dust which is used in the making of a lot of things - therefore coal is more valuable than charcoal and you shouldn't be burning it or making it into torches if you don't have to.

Also be wary - some of the recipes on the IC2 wiki have either changed or are different in the version we're using. The ones on the minecraft wiki tend to work but it isn't as easily searchable.

Thats all for now. Anyone elses thoughts and comments?

PS Seeing as I now have some of the machines up and running I can give you a tonne of rubber to get you started if you like :)

Edit - forgot two things. firstly this page is prolly the most useful one from the wiki. Also do not make iron tools, make bronze and save your iron for making machines :P

Minecraft / Re: DETAILED IC Install Instructions

Mod edit: This post was made when we were running IC1 rather than IC2, and is no longer relevant.

Step 10
Open that file after copying it, and look for this line:
#addMineableOres=true
Remove the #, and save the file.

Hmmm. Whenever I try and remove the # minecraft crashes as soon as I try to log in. However I can log onto the server fine and use the industrialcraft stuff. I also just tried a single player game and it let me craft some rubber.

As a side note - mining the industrial craft ores takes a long time and seems independant of the pickaxe I use (ie a stone pickaxe takes as long as an iron pickaxe). Have I done something wrong there or is that how it's meant to be?

Edit - ...well now I'm double confused. Its just started giving me an error message (bad packet id 230) when I try to log in and I haven't changed anything o.0

Edit 2 - Decided I'd messed something up somewhere so just started with a clean install and followed instructions. All working now and mining is faster :) yay!
