Other Games / Rift
« on: November 25, 2013, 03:58:50 am »
So I just started playing this f2p called Rift. It's your typical rpg but on occaision rift open across the world, the cash mall doesn't break the game and I'm thoroughly enjoying myself.... I'm not one to post elaborate explanations of a game... I have fun playing and you might too...

If you decide to play be sure to add Galeesa as one of your friends :p

Other Games / PSN
« on: October 14, 2012, 03:22:06 pm »
I know that there was a topic created a year or so back, but after an hour of searching... I could not find it and I didn't want to revive a long dead thread.

I know that the RA...(excuse me CC) tends towards the free games, but I also know that as gamers, we tend to have multiple outlets to get our gaming fix. As such, I was wondering if we there was a spark of interest in console gaming. Granted the next gen consoles are most likely right around the corner(wiiU comes out next month i believe), but most people will still probably be playing what's out now for at least a while into the next generation of consoles. Just a thought, I cannot for the life of me remember the outcome of the last topic similar to this, but if we have multiple platforms... who knows we may bring a whole new set of faces here.

I currently own a wii and ps3, but game mostly on my ps3.
list of multiplayer games in my inventory:

Assassin's Creed III (at then end of the month... can't wait)
Borderlands (1 & 2) 4 player co-op
Assassin's Creed (Brotherhood & Revelations) 8 player competetive and 4 v 4 team competetive
Mass Effect 3
Dynasty Warriors 7 2 player co-op
Crysis 2
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe 2 player competetive
Marvel vs Capcom 2
CoD BO (had to see what the hype was about & not bad if you can get in a lobby without the 31337ists)

there's bound to be a few more... but at the moment, this is what i can think of off the top of my head. And no, I will not be buying anymore CoD games. If I'm going to buy a sequel... the story had better be worth it. :P
PSN: Galeesa
feel free to add me and if a fellow CCer is on, I'd love to hop in for a few sessions. You'll find me playing Borderlands and AC online mostly at the moment.

Kingdom of Loathing / out of hiding
« on: October 05, 2012, 03:59:13 am »
Hey everyone...
Looks like RL keeps trying to drag me away... but I will not let it! Anywhose I've updated my email in my profile. So if you ever need me or just have questions feel free to send away. Especially if you need slime tube info or nodules(I can get 2 per run), but I have to be the only one it that run... unless you can roll full slime hates it gear. I'm saving kol and CC back into my favorites as I have a new PC. So hopefully this time you'll see me around more often again :-p

* Galeesa jumps out from under the rug content in knowing the men in white has lost his trail for now

Hey everyone! Sorry, i haven't been around much lately, but life kind of got in the way as it tends to do sometimes.

quick update:
found a job, quit drinking, wife got pregnant, went back to school to finish my computer engineering degree, wife had daughter, life slowly starting to get back into a routine :p

that's it more or less in a rather short synopsis (: Hopefully i'll be back and taking a more active role here once again. Time to finish up that bad moon run from last year ;)

Kingdom of Loathing / Crimbo '10
« on: December 07, 2010, 03:48:35 pm »
This thread is to discuss this year's Crimbo event.

So far there's been an addition to hobopolis, Elf Alley. It acts just like any other hobo zone, and has approximately 500 hobelves there. I'm not sure if this is just for the Crimbo season or what, but we've cleared every zone on this run except the town square. Just so you all know... If we can finish up this current hobo run, we can re-open hobopolis and have another go at Elf Alley. We need to drive off around 1112 hobos to finish this up. I would like to get everyone a piece of Uncle Hobo's loot, since it can be zapped into his beard and grant 6 adv at rollover and 9 in Dec. :)

Kingdom of Loathing / Farming?
« on: October 09, 2010, 03:00:39 pm »
Which do you all prefer... meat or item farming? I just spent about 170 adv in the giant's castle and raked in roughly 100k after food and booze expenses. With the Turtle Tamer specific equipment, I can easily add 35 lbs to my fam. Of course after i was done i read this on the KOLwiki :P

Quote
All monsters at the Castle have 150 HP. Meat drop is 135-194 (avg: ~150) per monster. So, let's compare a 50-lb NPZR with a 50-lb Leprechaun. In 10 rounds of combat at 11% Chance of meat drop you get a meat drop 1.1 times/adventure. A full weight Stocking Mimic (assuming it's just a really heavy cocoabo) you have a 1/12 chance of getting meat meaning you get 5/6 of a drop per fight. If you do all the math, you will get:
•50-lb leprechaun = 448.35 meat (198.9% extra meat plus 150 from the end of combat)
•50-lb NPZR = 491 meat/adventure (310/drop which averages 341 meat plus the 150 you get from the end of combat)
•130-lb Stocking Mimic (100-lb plus the 30 bonus the others got) = 727 meat/adventure (693.2 per drop factoring in Happy Holidays, averaging out to 578 per actual fight, plus 150 from the end of combat)
Thus, a Stocking Mimic is better than a NPZR, which is better than a leprechaun at the castle.

I think i might try and beef up my mimic to 100 lbs... although, i'm not exactly sure how to make a fight last more than a single round :P
so any ideas on how you prefer to farm would be greatly appreciated :)

Kingdom of Loathing / First HC run ever...
« on: September 23, 2010, 11:24:20 pm »
Yes you read that right... after 6 years of playing this game (don't go off my account created date... the first galeesa got deleted while i was in iraq... <_<) I'm finally giving HC a go. Yes, it may be with my multi, but it's a HCO run and odds are that i'm going to hate my life for a while... but i intend to make a BM runner out of it for some reason. Even though the whole reason i created it was to become a buffbot eventually... maybe i should drop the restrictions, but i think if i do 6 bm runs... it'll make the normal runs that much faster. Any comments?
Any info on how to speed this run up would be greatly appreciated. We have a clan full of ppl that seem to prefer HC runs... it seems odd to me that we don't have a reference for HC players :p

oh! Any chance you could pass leadership back, tyred? I left for Africa thanks to the USMC and returned minus a clan :-P

Feedback & Bug Reports / Text Box Problems
« on: March 12, 2010, 11:51:59 pm »
It's not really a major problem as most posts/replies do not fill the entire text box. However, for those posts/replies that fill the entire box and causes the scroll bar to appear, it will continually scroll to the top of the box with every keystroke. It makes it rather complicated to ensure that what you are typing in grammatically correct or spelled right :P I'm running IE version 8.0.6001.18882. Not entirely sure if anyone else has had this problem, but it has happened to me multiple times. If you have any questions or can't replicated this, shoot me a pm :) Thanks

Outrageous if oyu ask me. the problem is that it looks rather interesting and might actually be worth it :p i can't afford the clan looking glass, but i might think about getting us that VIP invitation. not quite sure yet though (:

Power of Meep (Clan) / An Awesome Ball Pit
« on: January 29, 2010, 06:32:34 pm »
We have a new addition to our Clan Rumpus Room... An Awesome Ball Pit! The ball pit allows you to get a 20 turn buff based on the number of balls in the pit. The buff is:
Muscle +X%
Mysticality +X%
Moxie +X%
with x being the number of balls in the pit divided by 100. there are currently 400 balls in there giving a +4% boost to all stats. It's capped at 10,000 balls or +100%. I'll leave it up to you guys if you think this is worth trying to get the other 9,600 balls needed to fill the pit. :p You can trade twinkly wads from the travelling trader in a one for one trade.

Kingdom of Loathing / Something I just noticed about Big Brother
« on: December 11, 2009, 06:25:20 pm »
So I think I found a way to make anywhere between 36k-90k in about 30-60 adventures utulizing the sea depending on how you spend your sea dollars. The first step is to solve the skate park problem with a skateboard. This gives you acess to the three buffs in that zone: Busker Do (At the end of every combat in The Sea you will acquire a sand dollar), Swimming Head (+25% Item Drops from Monsters (Underwater only)), and Familial Ties (+10 Familiar Weight (underwater only)) all for 30 adv.

This is what I have equipped for underwater adventuring:
Hat:  straw hat (+10% Item Drops from Monsters, +15% Food Drops from Monsters, +15% Booze Drops from Monsters)
Shirt:  Grateful Undead T-shirt    (+5% Item Drops from Monsters)
Weapon:  octopus's spade (+5% Item Drops from Monsters)
Off-Hand:  spiky turtle shield  (+10% Item Drops from Monsters)
Pants:  poodle skirt
Accessory 1:  diving muff (Lowers underwater penalty)
Accessory 2:  Baron von Ratsworth's monocle  (+10% Item Drops from Monsters)
Accessory 3:  makeshift SCUBA gear
Familiar:  plastic pumpkin bucket  (+5lbs, and +5 lbs of gravy fairy)
edit: i forgot to add the i use a Grouper Groupie as my Fam

With all this plus the 3 buffs, I can garuntee that I'll get 30 sea dollars and usually 6 pieces of fish meat granting me 30 turns of the fishy effect. Once the 30 turns are completed, you can go to Big Brother and and trade in your sea dollars for items that will fetch anywhere from 6k for the seagrease(5sea dollars) to 29.5k for the rusty lamp(20 sea dollars). I haven't tried it yet myself since i'm still saving up for the sushi mat(300 sea dollars), but i believe that my math is correct and i'm fairly certain that the sea items sell pretty quickly.

edit: the rusty valve goes for 12.9k for only 10 sea dollarsand the waterlogged bootstraps are 17.8k for 10 sea dollars putting a 2 day (60 adv) total there at 106.8k :)
