Title: The trunk works now.
Post by: Trerro on November 02, 2009, 10:02:05 pm
That staff... is awesome.

Staff of the Woodfire

This is a chefstaff whittled from the wood of the Underworld Tree, capped with the malevolent everburning coal that served as its black, merciless heart. Sure, it's evil, but look on the bright side -- you could cook a pizza just by waving this thing at it!

    Type: weapon (1-handed chefstaff)
    Power: 10
    Mysticality Required: 150
    Cannot be discarded

    Enchantment:
    +10 Mysticality Stat(s) Per Fight
    Spell Damage +100%
    Regenerate 5-15 MP per adventure

Additionally, in combat, you get a "jiggle your staff" button that you can use once per combat, which does around 15 damage each with 3 different elements.

...I find myself torn. Generally speaking I'd say the flail is the worst item.

...except I just decided to try and get to level 30 in DB and an item turns up which can give me +10 moxie points per fight?

Decisions decisions :P

1. I hate these items on the basis that Tyred in Bad Moon could not get it.

2. I have yet to carve mine on El Juan because of the implications there may be. The staff is not significantly better than any chefstaff, and while the +10 to mainstat is nice, it is only usable AFTER you've hit level 13. Therefore, it is not usable in hardcore, and in softcore, the only use is if you are making a powerlevelling run, in which case it is fantastic.

GPH, the moxie one is a great help, I can almost guarantee. If you plan on doing more level 30 runs, though, its a crapshoot. You might as well buy one of each at that point.

I can't quite decide...Hobopolis runs lure me into running some more high level run throughs but I can't decide if I'd want to do them as magic users or thumpers (I imagine I'll be more than sick of moxie classes by level 30 :P)

So I'll prolly get either the club or the staff. Anyone got any advice on which is better for the high level content, muscle or magic? Which can start sooner and which is better overall kinda thing.

I would be a lot happier if these things weren't all  handed... probably my biggest problem that i have with them. but then again if they weren't two handed i would definitely be dual wielding these things (:

high lvl i'm fairly certain that myst class kicks the crap out of muscle... i vaguely remember tyred throwing some of the damage reports that el juan had on our last hobo run and the numbers were insane. while muscle can take more of a beating , some of the myst skills must be pretty awsome. but i've never done myst... so i can't say from experience.

I'll preface what I've said before by saying that while I love my myst classes, the "thumpers" have a lot to be desired, especially with the HP boost they get innately, that's huge.

Now, regarding the massive damage I can do to things (even more massive now that I can have spell criticals!) is due in part to the following:

A navel ring (+100% spell damage)
A chefstaff (+100% spell damage)
An Ankh (+25% spell damage)

And more sauceror potions than you can shake a stick at. Those potions usually get me to about +400% on all my stats, which helps on those giant spells. Undampened by hobo-boss modifiers, when I buff all the way up and get my "Spellmurder" outfit on, I can hit for over 8000.

However, consider the cost I would normally incur for all of that: reagents, scrumdiddlyumptious solutions, fruits and whatnot, I pay a heavy price. But that gets us some good gear, nonetheless.

Anyway, I love me my myst guys.
